Apache Tears are a type of obsidian, a glassy volcanic rock formed when lava came into contact with water. Our Apache Tears come from the Jemez Mountains in New Mexico. The name is a reference to the story of an Apache tribe being chased by the U.S. Calvary. The Apache men were forced over a cliff to their death, and the dark tears shed by the Apache women were said to have solidified into these little dark stones.
Though the story of their name is a sad one, carrying the little stones is said to be protective and grounding.
Metaphysically, Apache Tears can heal old wounds and cleanse any type of negativity. They make a great addition to your medicine pouch or to carry alone in the pouch provided.
