The turbo -- or turban -- snail from the family Turbinada is so named because of its spiralling, hat-like shell. The shell's rounded aperture has a pearl-like surface. The Turbo Snail Shell we show here comes from Africa's coastal waters. The conical shell has been polished to show the underlying iridescent mother-of-pearl, which results from repeated layers of calcium carbonate and other mineral deposits. Shells are symbolically significant in religions and myths around the world because of their rounded and hollow forms, which reflect the essence of the feminine.
Each shell is approximately 3-1/2" in diameter and 3-1/4" tall and the one you receive will be similar in quality and appearance to the example shown in the above photo.
