Silicon carbide is the abrasive of choice for tumbling
because it has a Moh’s hardness of 8+, incredible
longevity, and is quite effective. This 600 Silicon
Carbide Tumbling Grit has a very fine grain and is typically used as a pre-polish before the final polishing step. It's also recommended for fine grind in flat lapping.
