A number of minerals contain trace elements that will
fluoresce and reveal vivid colors when illuminated by
long-wave ultraviolet light. Small (1-1/2" by 6-1/2" by 1-1/2")
and lightweight, this handheld, battery-operated
long-wave ultraviolet lamp comes with the long-wave
minerals kit, so that you can view the fantastic glowing
colors right away! The long-wave kit contains five
minerals -- tremolite, tirodite, fluorite, wernerite,
and sodalite. The UV lamp and mineral kits also are
available for individual purchase. Each stone is about 1"
square (but sizes vary) and is marked with its name and
the location in which it was found.
Please note: battery-operated UV lamps will illuminate to a distance of 2-3" and a circumference
of 1-2", depending upon conditions. If you need a stronger
lamp, try a Rechargeable Long-Wave Lamp. Requires 4 AA
batteries (not included). The UV lamp and
mineral kit are also available for individual purchase.
