These beautifully fossilized Keyhole Sand Dollars (Mellita quinquiesperforata) are delicate
remnants of eight-million-year-old sea echinoids! They
are approximately 3" in diameter and light tan in color.
Collected in Baja California, Mexico. You will receive specimens that are
similar in shape and color to those shown above. Due to the age and fragility
of these fossils, they may have small imperfections.
These fossil shells are the remains of creatures that
lived 8 million years ago, but were exactly the same as the
sand dollars found in our oceans today! Pair one with a
modern shell found on the beach recently for an excellent
science project idea.
