This Small Agate and Quartz Geode from Brazil has been cut
to reveal the intriguing and beautiful interior,
which is one of Mother Nature's mysteries. The term geode
means "shape of the Earth" and refers to geodes'
spherical shape. Geodes are formed over millions of
years in volcanic or sedimentary environments. Hollow
cavities fill with supersaturated fluids rich in silica
and other minerals, which over time become crystallized.
The crystalline material is usually harder than the host
rock, which erodes, leaving geodes behind. Typical
minerals found in geodes include agate, quartz, chalcedony,
calcite, and selenite.
The geode measures approximately 4-1/2" across,
3" tall, and 2-1/2" deep. It features a stunning
combination of clear, grey, blue and white agate
bands with a pretty little cavern of sparkling clear quartz and
another cavern of chalcedony with blue druzy quartz.
You will receive the geode shown in the photo.
