Nantan Meteorites come from China in the Guangxi Province. Because of the humid
climate where this meteor struck, the outer, melted
layer of each fragment has broken away, revealing its
core. The octahedral crystallization of the iron can be
seen clearly, making these very interesting-looking
specimens. Nantan meteorites contain 92.35% iron,
7% nickel, and at least 30 other minerals and trace
elements (including several rare minerals). These
meteorites have been polished to display both their
crystallized structure and metallic composition to best
advantage. The actual meteorite is approximately 3/8"
by 1/2" and the display box it comes in is 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" by
1-1/4" -- already mounted and ready for your
