What a find! This Bogwood, from the Miocene Age, is known as Gary Green or
McDermitt Green Jasper and was found near the Oregon/Nevada border.
It's has incredible blue-green, light-to-dark green, olive and tan
splashes of color. Each bookend in this pair is approximately 6" tall,
4-1/4" across, and 2" deep. These Bogwood bookends weigh over
7 pounds.
Petrified wood results when mineral deposits
such as quartz and silica replace and preserve the wood form, gradually becoming
minerals like jasper and agate over millions of years. The colors
of Bogwood come from the algae and other organic matter that was in
the mud during the fossilization process. Scroll down to view Related Products.
