This Southwestern style Carved Bear is available in either Picasso marble (shown left in the above photo) or septarian nodule (shown right). Picasso Marble is an extraordinary combination of intertwining blacks, browns, and tans that looks much like a cubist painting at first glance (hence, the name Picasso). Septarian nodules, formed during the Cretaceous period (50 to 70 million years ago), when the Gulf of Mexico reached what is now Southern Utah, are composed of calcite (yellow areas), aragonite (the brown lines), and limestone (the grey rock).
The bear you receive will be similar in appearance to those shown in the above photo and will measure from 3-3/4 to 4" long, 2-3/4 to 2-7/8" high, and 3/4 to 1-1/4" thick.
The bear has great meaning for many cultures of the world. It is thought to symbolize healing, physical strength, and bravery and to represent the power of the unconscious mind. In Native American traditions, the bear is a shaman, a creature of dreams and powerful visions. The bear also has lunar symbolism and is sacred to the Goddess Diana.
