Amethyst is, perhaps, the best loved of all the quartz
varieties. Its warm, purple glow is a favorite in home
decorating, and it is widely used as a Feng Shui element.
Amethyst's purple color is due to small amounts (about 40
parts per million) of iron impurities in the crystal
structure of quartz.
This Huge Amethyst Cluster Plaque -- a
fragment of an amethyst geode that was formed in the wake
of volcanic activity in South America -- is irregular in
shape, with large-sized crystals (averaging from 3/4 -
1-3/4" cubed). Dimensions of the plaque are approximately 11" across,
15" across, 10" wide and 3" thick. This amethyst cluster is
big enough to sit near your hearth (not too close!) so you can watch
the shimmer of the crystals from the fire; however, it enhances
