Silicon carbide is the abrasive of choice for tumbling because it has a Moh’s hardness of 8+, incredible longevity, and is quite effective. This 220 Silicon Carbide Tumbling Grit has a medium grain and is typically used after 60/90, 80, or 120 Grit, in either Step 2 or Step 3, depending on whether you use a 4-Step or 5-Step tumbling process. It's also recommended for rough grind in flat lapping. The 1 lb. package will process 10 - 14 pounds of rock. This product is graded, with a tight range in grit size.
