This Amethyst Cathedral, actually half of a giant geode
found in Rio Grande de Sur, Brazil, is a small wonder
that makes a giant impression. It
measures 10" wide, 15" tall, and 5" deep (at its
widest points). Large to extra large (1-2" cubed) deep purple amethyst crystals
with 4 and 5 sides line the interior of the chalcedony and matrix-rock shell. This specimen has a very unique shape with it's inner cavity displaying a structure similar to a figure-eight, like the symbol for infinity.
