Apache Tears are a type of obsidian, a glassy volcanic
rock formed when lava came into contact with water.
Our Apache Tears come from the Jemez Mountains in
New Mexico. The name is a reference to the story of an Apache
Tribe being chased by the U.S. Calvary. The Apache men were
forced over a cliff to their death, and the dark tears
shed by the Apache women were said to have solidified into
these little dark stones. You will receive 3 stones,
each measuring approximately 1/2" in diameter, and a soft
deerskin pouch that measures 3-1/2" by 2-1/2" with
a 30" cord.
Though the story of their name is a sad one, carrying the
little stones is said to be protective and
grounding. Metaphysically, Apache Tears can heal old wounds
and cleanse any type of negativity. They make a great addition
to your medicine pouch or to carry alone in the pouch provided. |
