The fossilized Carcharodon megalodon Shark's Tooth shown above measures 2-3/4" from the tip to the bottom left corner; 2-5/8" from the tip to the bottom right corner; and 2-1/2" across the root. This specimen displays well-preserved serrations. The dimensions are to the closest quarter inch, measured on a straight line (i.e., not following the contours of the tooth precisely). The Carcharodon megalodon shark existed some 2 to 25 million years ago and is a distant cousin of today's Great White Shark.
