Mineralogy: Fluorite is a halide mineral composed of calcium fluoride. It commonly occurs in vein deposits with metallic minerals such as lead and zinc but can occur with other minerals as well. It has several different crystal habits. The cube is the most common, followed by the octahedron. Fluorite has a Mohs hardness of 4 and forms in a variety of colors including white, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, brown, and bluish-black.
Metaphysical Properties: Fluorite is said to be a stone of focus and perseverance. It is thought to be great for helping the mind overcome obstacles and cultivating motivation. It's said to be a perfect stone for students as it helps the brain absorb and maintain new information. It's also thought to be helpful when studying mathematics and other universal studies.
