Celestite is a stunning mineral that features a celestial blue color unique in the mineral kingdom. Celestite specimens may feature large, chunky crystals; smaller, flower-like clusters; or a combination of both. Celestite clusters make for intriguing display pieces for the home or office. This specimen comes from Madagascar.

Mineralogy: Celestite (strontium sulfate) is often white or gray, but the sky-blue variety is the most highly desired amongst mineral collectors. It is formed when nodules of gypsum or anhydrite (both calcium sulfate minerals) are exposed to strontium-rich solutions which dissolve existing calcium and cause precipitation of strontium sulfate crystals.
