Rock Wrapping Workshop
Slow down, work with your hands, and discover a thoughtful way to showcase the natural beauty of stone in our hands-on Rock Wrapping Workshop.
Inspired by the Japanese tradition of tsutsumu (包む)—the practice of wrapping with care and respect—this workshop explores the idea of thoughtfully encasing and presenting a natural stone rather than altering it. In Japanese aesthetics and traditions, wrapping can express affection, protection, care, and respect for the object being wrapped.
Using cord and traditional-style knotting techniques, you'll learn how to wrap and secure a natural stone while creating a beautiful presentation that allows the character of the stone to remain the focus.
We'll take inspiration from the meditative qualities of this craft while learning the techniques step-by-step. It's a wonderful opportunity to slow down, connect with a natural object, and explore a different way of appreciating the stones we collect.
Whether you're a longtime rockhound, a lover of natural objects, or simply curious about trying something new, you'll leave with a beautifully wrapped stone and a new appreciation for the art of wrapping with intention and care.
